In early December, United Parents for Educational Justice (UPEJ) had an Advocacy Day at the LA Unified central offices in Downtown Los Angeles, where they discussed the implementation of the Student Equity Needs Index (SENI) 2.0 in four meetings with district officials. The members of UPEJ led meetings with Elmer Roldan, Director of Civic Engagement, Office of Superintendent; Kathy Norris, Deputy Budget Director; Board President Monica Garcia; and Dulce Lopez, Director of Community Engagement, Board District 7 (Dr. Richard Vladovic). UPEJ members urged the district officials to implement an equitable funding formula this budget cycle. To learn more about SENI 2.0, click here.
