On Saturday, September 7, 2019, over 300 people celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Dolores Huerta Elementary School in South LA! The event featured Civil Rights Activist and Community Organizer Dolores Huerta, who delivered an inspiring keynote address and spoke at length with families and students. Special thanks to school staff; students and families; partners; and community members who supported the event. View a media recap and some of Ms. Huerta’s remarks here. See our video here.
Thanks also to our line-up of speakers: Huerta Elementary Principal Estela Lopez; Huerta Elementary alum and current Santee Education Complex student Jennifer Alfaro; Partnership CEO Joan Sullivan; LA Unified Board Member Monica Garcia; and Nora Gutierrez from Councilmember Curren D. Price’s office. A big appreciation also goes to Huerta Elementary Assistant Principal Sandra Sandoval, who was the emcee for the day. The event also included tours of the school.
