On September 23, 2021, Roosevelt High School Band Director Erik Quintanilla was featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show for uplifting and improving the school’s music program. Thanks to Quintanilla, students who once had limited access to playable instruments and equipment are now learning the joys of music and how it can change their lives. Clarkson surprised Quintanilla with a $5,000 donation to their music program from Pandora music, which Clarkson matched live on-air with an additional $5,000. The show’s celebrity guests Kristen Bell and Jeanie Buss were so moved by what they saw they both gave an additional $5,000 each, bringing the total gift to $20,000. See the story here.
