This week, LA Unified Board Member Kelly Gonez and Partnership CEO Joan Sullivan co-authored an op-ed published in The Hill. The opinion piece reinforces a message sent by the Partnership in June that the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) proposed federal housing rule would eliminate housing stability for thousands of students. The proposed rule would prohibit “mixed status” families — households with both documented and undocumented family members — from receiving public housing assistance. An estimated 55,000 LA public schools’ students would be impacted by this rule. For more information, read the op-ed here.
