The Partnership Playbook for School Transformation was unveiled on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at a “Partnering for Equity” convening we co-hosted with UCLA’s Center for the Transformation of Schools. The Playbook is an online tool about our work and it outlines a path forward for traditional public school systems to accelerate equity for low-income students and students of color. The convening included a keynote speech by Dr. Pedro Noguera, Distinguished Professor of Education at the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA and founder of the Center for the Transformation of Schools (CTS). Dr. Noguera’s keynote focused on how schools can be responsive to students and communities. Two panel discussions explored “School Systems Transformation: Addressing Historic Patterns of Inequality” and “Key Levers for School Site Transformation in LA Schools & Beyond.” Stephanie Ortiz, student at MSTMA at Roosevelt, also delivered powerful opening remarks.
