Executive Summary – Beneath the surface: Ensuring LA schools have equitable access to educators
Our newly released policy paper, “Beneath the surface: Ensuring LA schools have equitable access to educators,” clearly states the problem facing our highest-need schools – the need for equitable teacher staffing across LA Unified and beyond. The research is clear: teachers are game changers in the lives of their students. Since teachers can have a huge impact on students’ lives, we need to ensure that our most vulnerable students have access to the most qualified teachers. This paper outlines concrete steps that LA Unified and other school districts can take to improve access to great teaching candidates at schools serving highest-need communities.
