Our Curriculum Systems Advising team works alongside educators—district, school, and teacher leaders—to build systems that support impactful use of high-quality instructional materials. We are early adopters of a curriculum-first approach to professional learning. We have helped our 20 network schools and more than 60 other district schools adopt and implement high-quality instructional materials for mathematics. Our team has partnered with LAUSD to support the implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) in their secondary schools by:

  1. Building the capacity of teacher leaders and instructional coaches to ensure that each school has trained school staff to help teachers through their implementation journey.
  2. Providing tailored guidance to school leadership teams to build systems that monitor implementation and design targeted learning and supports that keep curriculum progress moving forward.
  3. Supporting district leaders in setting the conditions for effective curriculum use by leveraging data and research to drive continuous improvement at the system level.
  4. Gathering implementation data to drive effective decision-making. We compile quantitative, real-time data that helps schools and districts troubleshoot challenges. Unlike traditional approaches that mostly rely on student outcome data, we help teams understand the reach of their professional development and identify current classroom practices, providing actionable insights they can directly influence.
